The movie is written, directed and animated by the Russian Georgiy Boguslavskiy along with an international crew. This production was possible with the contribution of crowdfunding.

The animation is well done and accurate. Puppets are really stylized and movements are faster due to an unusual frame rate. This is a really nostalgic movie. The captain is old and ready for his last trip. He is a puppet and he’s going to become an object to put on a shelf like the small ships we see in the first scene. The most original idea of the movie is mixing stop motion with real old footage. The black and white footage represents the memories of the captain: scenes of the sea, ships and a sailor’s daily life.

But the end of the captain’s travels, his retirement, is not permanent. We might find something else after old age or death; it might be time to start another journey.
