Our fourth day was full of surprises! The journey started at 10.00h with a crowded Question & Answers Session. Seven directors were interacting with the audience in an knowledgment interchange that inspired everyone.
The creators in the meeting were Inès Eshun, the director of the Belgian film The life of Esteban, that is nominated in the Best Student Fiction Category in the Student Competition; Lyubo Yonchev, author of Timmy, that participates in the Best National Film Category of the Oscar Qualification Contenders Competition; Patrick Vandebroeck, director of The Gap, nominated in the Best Animation Category also in the Oscar Qualification Contenders Competition; Maia Iotzova, director of the Bulgarian film Vulture’s Love that is part of the Documentary & Experimental Competition; Adam Rybansky, author of the Czech film Friendly Sport Meeting, which is nominated for Best Student Fiction in the Student Competition; Eva Georgieva, creator of I – One Of You, that is included in the Best Student Animation Category also in the Student Competition; and Dimitar Dimitrov, director of two participating short animation films, Happiness and The Retarded Child, both in the Best National Film Category in the Oscar Qualification Contenders Competition.
The next part of yesterday’s schedule was one session of the Filmer Forge Educational Programme. It was the turn of Sandi Sissel, member of the American Society Of Cinematographers and the Academy Of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, with her conference 100 Films, Oscar and BAFTA, as photographed.
The screenings started at 15.00h on the Stone Hall of the Queen Marie Palace with the Volume VII of the Documentary Competition and Student Competition. The films we could watch were Unlock the Stage, Aamir, Kis, What Has To Be and Arsenic.
Later at 17.00h, it was the turn of the Volume V of the Oscar Qualification Contenders Competition, with the movies Bango Vassil, Serval and Chaumier – Master of Shadows, Wave, Shame, and Shadow Boxer.
The next volume of the same section were screened in the following session at 19.00h, with the films Howls, Sophia, Koliva, And the Moon Stands Still, Formers, Bernard and Little Noah’s Last Adventure.
At 22.00h was the moment for Volume II of the section On Focus European Film Awards, where could enjoy the movies En La Boca, The Circle, Information Skies, You Will Be Fine and Timecode.
At the same hour, a new party was starting in the gardens of the Queen Marie Palace in Balchik, this time by the hand of Oto, from Bar Switch, in Bulgaria.
